Valley Brook Village features 62 apartments for formerly homeless veterans on a Veterans Affairs medical campus in Lyons, N.J.
The $15.7 million development was designed with Universal Design principles to maximize accessibility, and it has earned LEED Gold and Silver certification for its three buildings.
Located in Somerset County, one of the wealthiest communities in New Jersey and an area traditionally lacking affordable housing, Valley Brook Village is the area’s first housing community reserved entirely for homeless and at-risk Veterans.
Demand for the apartments has been strong, with Valley Brook Village receiving three applications for each unit. Developers hope to build an additional 50 units in a second phase.
