Built in 1904, the building originally housed a baking company locally famous as one of the first in Pittsburgh to use motorized delivery trucks.
The second floor of Mackey Lofts provides a safe, secure home to 10 residents with impairments to their hearing, vision, or both.
The building most recently had served as a self-storage warehouse.
The building includes 11 interior parking spaces on the first floor and parking for 16 bicycles. The city gave Mackey Lofts a waiver from local zoning rules that normally require one parking space per apartment.
