Developers Eden Housing and ROEM Corp. have transformed a dilapidated corner in downtown Mountain View, Calif., into modern workforce studio apartments.
Studio 819 Apartments offers 49 studio workforce housing apartments, including one manager's unit, for residents with incomes at or below 45% of the area median income.
The development achieved LEED Homes Platinum certification. Green features include efficient HVAC systems, 100% fluorescent lighting, Energy Star appliances, and an extensive solar photovoltaic system that offsets the building common area energy load. A water-efficient irrigation system meets the city's water conservation goals. Drought-tolerant planting has also been added to the landscaping.
