Developed by The Community Builders and the Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers (N.Y.), Schoolhouse Terrace features a 50-unit building for low-income seniors and another 70-unit building designed for low-income families.

Schoolhouse Terrace is built on the site of the old Public School 6 in Yonkers, N.Y. The vacant school had to be demolished, but developers preserved its distinctive archway, integrating it into the entry of the senior building,

The developers collaborated with residents throughout the design and development process to gather input. This participatory process enhanced the design to include two community rooms and a computer lab.

Schoolhouse Terrace

Schoolhouse Terrace contains 80 one-bedroom, 32 two-bedroom, and eight three-bedroom units, as well as an additional unit for an on-site superintendent. Twenty-six units are for residents at or below 30% of area median income (AMI), 67 units are for residents at or below 50% of the AMI, and 27 units are for residents at or below 60% of AMI.
