Renaissance at North Colorado Station, developed by Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and Renaissance Housing Development Corp., in Denver has created much-needed affordable housing with supportive services for chronically homeless and low-income families and individuals, including homeless veterans, homeless individuals recovering from substance abuse, families with children, and high utilizers of expensive emergency health and service systems.
The development replaces an aging budget motel that was a community nuisance due to drug and other illegal activity on-site. It is located within two blocks of the new transit rail line between downtown Denver and Denver International Airport, providing a transit-oriented development for special-needs populations.
The development has a community room for resident and community functions, a computer lab, a children's play room, and a courtyard with play equipment and sitting areas for adults.
The development team utilized Enterprise Green Communities guidelines to create a highly energy-efficient and healthy building.
