WinnDevelopment has converted dilapidated mill buildings into Loft Five50 in Lawrence, Mass. The project revitalizes the complex originally known as Arlington Mills and then Malden Mills and brings needed mixed-income housing to the area.
The 137-unit Loft Five50 features 134 affordable homes that serve residents earning no more than 30% and 60% of the area median income.
The development includes a 15,000-square-foot community room with a kitchen and entertainment space, fitness facilities, a movie theater, and an outdoor patio. Many of the historic features were restored, including high ceilings, large windows, and exposed brick.
The redevelopment of Loft Five50 transformed a blighted industrial mill complex into a contemporary residential community.
