CommonBond Communities’ $11.2 million redevelopment, which preserves the historic character and incorporates a commercial component, includes complete floor-to-ceiling renovation of the apartments.
The eight-story Tallcorn is the tallest building in Marshalltown, Iowa, and holds a prominent location on Main Street. New commercial storefront space is on the first floor, and a historic ballroom is being restored to be leased as community and event space.
The Tallcorn features 38 affordable one-bedroom and seven affordable two-bedroom apartments. Ten units are set aside for homeless households, and 13 units are set aside for special-needs residents. Four market-rate one-bedroom units are also included.
The Tallcorn became ready for occupancy in March.
