Gloria Robinson Court Homes IV in Jersey City, N.J., is the last phase of a development process that began more than a dozen years ago to replace 664 units in seven towers of a 1950s-era, high-density public housing with modern high-quality family housing.
Developed by Pennrose Properties and the Jersey City Housing Authority, the final phase consists of 70 new mixed-income rental units and an 11-classroom Jersey City Head Start offering pre-K early childhood education programs.
The fourth phase of Gloria Robinson Court Homes also added additional management office, conference rooms, and a new community facility providing residents with a large public gathering space, a full kitchen, and on-site laundry services.
The need for affordable housing in Jersey City was evident as soon as the lease-up process for the community began. In a matter of days, the property, which was completed in July 2016, received hundreds of applications for the 70 units.
