The Hunters View revitalization is part of the broader city of San Francisco's HOPE SF initiative.
The first phase includes 107 public housing and affordable rental units as well as new infrastructure and a new park.
A social services and economic empowerment strategy has been implemented during the physical revitalization of the site. The city has contracted with nonprofits Urban Strategies and Bayview YMCA.
The project also has workforce hiring goals, and many of the construction jobs have gone to existing residents of Hunters View.
Once all phases are completed, the new neighborhood will include up to 800 units of affordable and market-rate rental and for-sale housing, new public parks, and retail.
