A HOPE VI grant helped the Taunton Housing Authority and Trinity Financial redevelop the dilapidated Fairfax Gardens, a 150-unit public housing development built in 1951, in Taunton, Mass. Bristol Commons features energy-efficient townhouse-style units with front and back yards.

Bristol Commons includes 78 townhomes, 10 duplex units, a community center with HeadStart and a computer center, a community garden and a greenhouse staffed by a master gardener, a playground, and walking paths.

As part of the redevelopment of Fairfax Gardens, Taunton Housing Authority and Trinity Financial also redeveloped a brownfield site downtown. Lenox Green provides another 72 units of affordable housing for seniors and families.
