LEED-certified Perris Station is equipped with cool-roof technology and solar panels to provide energy to common areas. The smoke-free environment and community recycling program encourage residents to live healthfully.
Amenities were designed for active seniors to enjoy. While a full, indoor demonstration kitchen and outdoor barbecues were incorporated into the community for cooking, a gazebo, and a canvas-covered picnic area provide a place for residents to relax.
The $28 million project was the first 9 percent tax credit seniors community in Perris, Calif. The building is helping revitalize the urban core area of the city by providing more than 80 units of affordable housing to low-income seniors.
When leasing began, the community received more than 300 applications for 84 units. The office opened in August 2013, and by December, the community was 90 percent pre-leased. Two months later, the property was fully occupied.
