1100 Ocean Avenue Apartments is a 71-unit affordable housing development adjacent to City College of San Francisco in the transit-rich Balboa Park neighborhood.
Twenty-five studio and one-bedroom units are set aside for transition-age youths, while the remaining one-, two-, and three-bedroom units are affordable for families earning up to 50% of the area median income.
The development is adjacent to several bus lines and the MUNI light-rail, and it is less than a third of a mile from the BART station. With only five parking stalls, one of which is reserved for a car-sharing program, it features parking for 36 bikes.
A double-height, "charged opening" marks the entry lobby, off of which sits the community room and inviting stairway with planted terraces leading to a podium courtyard. Additional features include a laundry room, management and service offices, an exercise room, and a separate community room for the young adults.
