    Developers Get Aggressive With Passive House Design

    Multifamily developments are the fastest-growing sector in Passive House building, and a big part of that is affordable housing. Read about two new projects—Orchards at Orenco in Hillsboro, Ore., and Uptown Lofts on Fifth in Pittsburgh.

    Financing for the $14.6 million Orchards at Orenco includes $9 million in low-income housing tax credit equity from Well Fargo, $2.5 million in a Network for Oregon Affordable Housing permanent loan with the Oregon Affordable Housing Tax Credit Program, and $1.5 million from a Washington County HOME loan. Other partners include the Oregon Housing and Community Services, Meyer Memorial Trust, NeighborWorks America, Energy Trust of Oregon, and Enterprise.
