The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) has reserved $12.6 million in low-income housing tax credits (LIHTCs) to 21 developments.
The tax credits will help create 1,292 affordable rental housing units and approximately 1,816 jobs.
Gov. Scott Walker made the announcement at the future site of the Oconomowoc School Apartments project that will receive more than $624,000 in LIHTCs to convert a former school building into 55 housing units.
The tax credit awards will also help create affordable housing in other communities across the state, including Berlin, Caledonia, Fond du Lac, Fitchburg, Green Bay, Lake Geneva, Madison, Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Platteville, Salem, Sister Bay, Twin Lakes, Waukesha, and Wisconsin Rapids.
WHEDA received 74 applications this year, requesting $49 million in credits.
