Nominations are being accepted for the Nathan D. Taft Award for Leadership & Character in Affordable Housing.
In its second year, the award is named after the longtime partner and chief investment officer at Jonathan Rose Cos. who died in 2025. In addition to being an accomplished developer, Taft was a mentor to countless young people entering the field and served on numerous industry boards.
The award was established by Jonathan Rose Cos. and Scott Alter, co-founder of Standard Communities, along with Affordable Housing Finance.
It aims to honor individuals who demonstrate the qualities that Taft, 51, demonstrated throughout his life and career, including:
- Caring for people at every level—from affordable housing residents to coworkers to industry partners;
- Demonstrating a spirit of generosity, humility, and a commitment to mentoring others; and
- Leading with a strong sense of purpose and integrity.
How to Nominate
Please submit a brief nomination (500 words or less) explaining why the nominee should receive the award. Share specific examples of how the nominee demonstrates leadership through character, how they support others in the industry or within their organization, and their impact on communities and mission-driven housing.

The recipient will be recognized at AHF Live: The Affordable Housing Developers Summit, Nov. 16-18, in Chicago.
