The National Leased Housing Association (NLHA) is seeking applications for its scholarship program that benefits residents of federally assisted rental housing.

The NLHA Education Fund, which is made possible through tax-deductible donations of affordable housing providers, lenders, and brokers as well as AIMCO Cares, will provide scholarships to eligible individuals who live in privately owned federally assisted housing or are Sec. 8 voucher recipients. Last year, the Education Fund awarded 62 scholarships.

Applicants may only apply for one of the following scholarships:

  • The AIMCO Cares Scholarship, assisting college freshmen or returning undergraduates;
  • The Bill Gandert Memorial Scholarship, assisting graduating high school seniors who are interested in studying a specific trade;
  • The Mary Lou Manzie Memorial Scholarship, assisting nontraditional students who are pursuing an associate or undergraduate degree; and
  • The Neil Churchill Memorial Scholarship, assisting those who are completing graduate level coursework.

All applicants must apply electronically through NLHA’s website at http://hudnlha.com/education-fund/ or directly at https://nlhascholars.communityforce.com/Funds/Search.aspx#4371597136646D517975544F5976596D4E73384E69673D3D. Applications are due by March 15, with the awards’ announcement slated for early June.
