The National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF) will receive nearly $245 million and the Capital Magnet Fund (CMF) will receive almost $132 million.
Joseph Otting, acting director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) authorized the disbursement of the 2018 affordable housing allocations from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
In the case of Fannie Mae, the amount is $215 million. For Freddie Mac, the total is $161.7 million.
Both government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) are required to contribute to the two funds.
Created under the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008, both the NHTF and CMF are funded through an assessment on the GSEs. Advocates continue to closely watch over the funds, which the Trump administration have proposed for elimination in its 2020 budget proposal.
