At Affordable Housing Finance, we are always looking for ways to better serve our readers. And we have some new tricks up our sleeve for 2013.

One example is the relaunch of www.housingfinance.com, the website for AHF and sister publication Apartment Finance Today. We have created an updated and more comprehensive resource for financing, developing, and operating affordable and market-rate rental housing.

You’ll find an easier-to-navigate homepage with dynamic new options. View the most recent magazine features, our collection of web-exclusive news articles, guest commentaries from industry leaders, special magazine projects, twitter feeds for @ahfmag and @aftmagazine, social media links, an industry calendar, and a chart that reflects the major interest rates, updated daily.

The new navigation bar delivers targeted information divided up by five categories: News, Finance, Development, Policy & Legislation, and Management & Operations.

HousingFinance.com articles are easier to read, share, and comment on. You’ll find more images and slideshows on the site, and you can now automatically send articles to colleagues via e-mail or through more than a dozen social media sites. Another new feature allows you to post your reaction, start a dialogue, or ask questions at the end of any article.

There are also new developments on the print side. In this issue of the magazine, we’re debuting two new departments that will be filled by industry contributors.

We’re bringing a first-person developer and owner perspective in our Problem Solving department. Todd Sears of Herman & Kittle Properties delves into portfolio asset management. And our Policy department will deliver perspectives from industry leaders in the know. To kick off this department, Affordable Rental Housing A.C.T.I.O.N. is bringing readers up to date on the news from Capitol Hill.

Also, look for more changes in 2013. Both the magazine and our e-newsletter will be undergoing redesigns. Keep an eye out for these exciting changes.

If there is something specific you would like to see in the magazine, the newsletter, or the website, please e-mail me at [email protected].

If you own or develop affordable housing, fill out the annual AHF 50 survey at www.housingfinance.com. This is an opportunity to possibly be listed as one of the nation’s Top 50 owners or developers and will help us identify industry trends for the April/May issue. Surveys need to be returned no later than Feb. 4.

And entry forms are available for AHF’s Readers’ Choice Awards. Nominate your best developments that were completed in 2012 or will be completed in 2013. Entries are due by March 29, with the editors selecting the finalists for the July/August issue.
