Enterprise Community Partners, Inc., Local Initiatives Support Corp. (LISC), and Habitat for Humanity International have been awarded nearly $50 million to distribute to local efforts to support affordable housing and community development.

The funding was awarded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the agency’s Sec. 4 “capacity-building” program.

The three national groups will work with community development corporations and housing development organizations to carry out community development and affordable housing activities.

With the awards, HUD expects approximately 8,000 housing units will be built, renovated, or preserved; 1,000 training opportunities will be offered; and more than $1 billion in total development investment will be channeled to low- and moderate-income communities in more than 250 communities nationwide.

Enterprise received $25.3 million; LISC, $19.3 million; and Habitat, $5 million.
