Affordable Housing Finance magazine has won a prestigious national business media award for an article that tackles how the role the affordable housing industry is playing in combatting the nation’s opioid crisis.

Connectiv’s 65thannual Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards recognized the January/February 2018 cover story “Saving Lives,” written by deputy editor Donna Kimura, with the Best Single Article award at its awards ceremony in New York City at the end of March. This award recognizes a substantive article focusing on subjects or events of importance to a publication’s target audience.

As America’s opioid crisis worsens, Kimura takes a deep look at how affordable housing organizations are joining forces with treatment programs to battle the epidemic with funding, services, and supporting housing aimed at helping people with addictions recover.

Affordable Housing Finance also was a finalist for Best Single Issue of a Tabloid/Newspaper/Magazine for its January/February 2018 issue as well as Best Media Brand for overall editorial excellence.

In addition, sister publication Architect won the Best Use of Social Media award.
