BRIDGE Housing Adds to Team
Whitney Weller has been appointed senior vice president at BRIDGE Housing. In this newly created position, she will lead staff in the overall redevelopment of two large-scale, mixed-income, mixed-use revitalization efforts: Jordan Downs in Los Angeles and Potrero Terrace and Annex in San Francisco.
Weller brings 25 years of experience as an architect, urban planner, and community developer to the company. She recently had been senior vice president of The Michaels Development Co., where she established the firm’s Chicago and Los Angeles offices and oversaw a portfolio of more than $350 million.
At Michaels, she served as master developer for the redevelopment of the Chicago Housing Authority’s Henry Horner Homes and Robert Taylor Homes, which will lead to more than 3,000 units of mixed-income, mixed-use, and mixed-tenure housing.
Chris Nicholson has been named vice president of resource development at BRIDGE. He will lead the organization’s effort to raise funds to expand resident programs in BRIDGE communities. BRIDGE is a leading nonprofit developer, owner, and manager of affordable housing in California, Oregon, and Washington.
Nicholson comes to BRIDGE from the University of San Francisco (USF), where he was recently director of capital campaign. His previous positions at the university include associate vice president of development and director of planned giving, and he was involved in growing the USF’s total donations from $18 million to $25 million over a four-year period. Earlier, Nicholson served as director of business development for the San Francisco Foundation.
Pennrose Hires Compliance Executive
Kathi Garrone has joined Pennrose Management Co. as vice president of compliance. She brings more than 25 years of compliance and property management experience to the role. Her responsibilities will include establishing and maintaining relationships with investors, government housing agencies, and other regulatory bodies. In addition, Garrone will ensure that all certifications of compliance are prepared accurately and submitted on time to housing partners.
Garrone was most recently director of compliance with NDC Real Estate Management, where she developed the LIHTC compliance division.
Linda Hill Rejoins AEGON
Linda Hill has rejoined AEGON USA Realty Advisors to lead the Community Investments Production Group.
Vice president and head of acquisitions and underwriting for community investments, Hill is responsible for leading the Community Investment Acquisitions Group, which manages the analysis, underwriting, negotiation, documentation, and closing of tax credit investments nationally.
Hill recently served as a senior vice president for four years at Alliant Capital, a tax credit syndicator. She previous served at AEGON from 2004 to 2011.
Hunt Mortgage Announces Moves
Dana Blair and Penny Newton have joined Hunt Mortgage Group as vice presidents in the small loan group.
Based in Dallas, Blair will source and originate Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae small loans for clients in the Central region, including Texas and the surrounding states. She comes to the company from Bank Financial in Plano, Texas, where she was a vice president of apartment lending.
Based in Denver, Newton will source and originate Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae small loans for clients in Colorado and the surrounding area. Newton comes to the company from Grandbridge Real Estate Capital/BB&T Bank, where she was a vice president.
Marc Suarez has been promoted to director. Previously a senior vice president, Suarez joined Hunt Mortgage Group in mid-2014 to open a commercial mortgage financing office in Miami.
He recently structured the financing for a client to acquire The Park at Savino, a 200-unit, garden-style apartment complex located in Orlando, Fla.
Berkeley Point Adds to Team
Paul Mogote joins Berkeley Point Capital as national director of Federal Housing Administration (FHA) originations. He will operate out of the Dallas office, developing new and existing relationships and helping to grow the firm’s FHA business.
Prior to joining Berkeley Point Capital, Mogote was the national FHA program manager at Keybank and helped the company achieve the highest levels of FHA loan production in its history for two of the five years that he was there. Prior to moving into loan originations, he was a multifamily and health-care underwriter during his time with GMAC Commercial Mortgage (now Berkadia). Mogote has contributed to closing loans in excess of $1 billion and also worked directly with a majority of the Department of Housing and Urban Development offices nationwide.
Jason Wallach has joined Berkeley Point Capital as a vice president with its loan originations team. He will operate out of Miami, developing strategic partnerships and providing borrowers with the company’s wide spectrum of multifamily products and capital solutions.
Prior to joining Berkeley Point, Wallach was a production analyst at Berkadia on a team that was responsible for originating and structuring over $650 million in loan transactions. He has also worked as a real estate analyst for both Beech Street Capital and Grandbridge Real Estate Capital.
Rainmaker Hires VP
Devin Merrill has been named vice president of revenue management at Rainmaker, a leader provider of revenue management and profit optimization solutions for the multifamily and gaming/hospitality industries.
Merrill will be responsible for all Rainmaker optimized revenue solutions available to the multifamily housing market.
