Capitol Hill Housing Names Deputy Director
Jill Fleming has accepted the new position of deputy director/CFO at Capitol Hill Housing in Seattle.
She has served as the development firm’s CFO since 2006, during which time she has worked on several complex financing deals and has provided leadership for the organization as a part of the executive team.
Fleming was instrumental in the financing of 12th Avenue Arts, one of the most complex affordable housing financing deals in the state—involving New Markets Tax Credits, a capital campaign, and multi-layered ownership and accounting structures.
Capitol Hill Housing provides affordable apartments to nearly 2,000 people across Seattle.
SAHF Promotes Schaaf to SVP
Rebecca Schaaf has been promoted to senior vice president at Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future (SAHF) in Washington, D.C.
Having served as vice president of the SAHF Energy division for nearly two years, she will be leading SAHF’s energy and water conservation work following the retirement of Richard Samson, who was SAHF Energy president.
In her new role, Schaaf will work with SAHF members and others in the field to overcome barriers to energy and water conservation in multifamily affordable housing.
Wakeland Hires Project Manager
Jonathan Taylor has been named project manager at Wakeland Housing and Development Corp. in San Diego.
Taylor has supervised the development of seven housing communities in San Diego since 2006, creating more than 400 units designed to meet the needs of working families, seniors, and other individuals.
As project manager, he will oversee the development of affordable housing communities through all phases, including predevelopment, design, financing and entitlements, and construction.
Taylor is the latest hire at Wakeland, which recently added Tricia Tasto Levien, supportive housing director, and Peter Armstrong, senior project finance manager.
Bellwether Enterprise Adds to Team
Gregory S. Solomos has become senior vice president at Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital. He will be based in the Louisville, Ky., office and will manage the Kentucky origination team.
He recently served as senior vice president at Grandbridge Real Estate Capital, and prior to that he had been a senior member of Capstone Realty Advisors, where he specialized in originating commercial real estate debt and equity for all property types.
Bellwether Enterprise is the commercial and multifamily mortgage banking subsidiary of Enterprise Community Investment.
Magnusson Architecture Promotes Villa
Fernando Villa has been named principal and director of design at Magnusson Architecture and Planning (MAP) in New York City.
Villa has two decades of experience in all types of residential projects and is a staunch advocate for sustainability, particularly for affordable housing. His recent housing developments include Creston Avenue Residence in the Bronx and 22 Tarrytown Road Workforce Housing in Greenburgh, N.Y.
“As principal, he will continue to apply his talents to all types of housing—including affordable, market-rate, senior, supportive, and others—and raise the bar for innovative architecture,” says Magnus Magnusson, founding principal of the firm.
Pillar Names Four New Executives
Pillar, a Guggenheim Partners affiliate and a leading provider of financing solutions for affordable and conventional multifamily properties, announced the addition of four new hires to its lending platform team. They are:
- Edward Hussey, head of multifamily production, in Vienna, Va.;
- Jonathan White, managing director CMBS origination team, in New York;
- Don Husi, director of seniors housing and healthcare originations, in Brentwood, Tenn.; and
- Robert Taylor, vice president of originations, in Salt Lake City.
Hussey is responsible for Pillar’s multifamily production across all of the company’s product lines, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Federal Housing Administration, CMBS and life insurance company financing. He recently served as vice president of credit risk management for Freddie Mac Multifamily for more than seven years. For the 15 years prior to Freddie Mac, he had been chief underwriter for Wells Fargo Multifamily Capital, Reilly Mortgage Group, and Standard Mortgage Corp. Greysteel Appoints Senior Directors
W. Kyle Tangney and John F. Mullen have been promoted to senior directors at Greysteel Co.
Tangney leads private capital and middle-market multifamily property transactions with a specific focus on the Washington, D.C., metropolitan statistical area.
Mullen focuses on large private capital and institutional multifamily transactions with a particular focus on the Washington, D.C., suburban Maryland, and Virginia submarkets.
Both were part of the founding group that launched Greysteel in 2012.
Purple Heart Homes Names Development Officer
Dale Beatty has become chief development officer at Purple Heart Homes (PHH).
Beatty had served as board chairman since co-founding the organization in 2008. He moves to the executive staff to help develop new chapter leadership around the country.
PHH will provide a blueprint for community leaders who have a desire to help veterans in their towns with housing needs. Beatty will also be leading the development team to help increase corporate sponsorships.
