Miles & Stockbridge Grows Tax Credit Team

Miles & Stockbridge has expanded its Washington, D.C., office with the addition of nine lawyers to the firm’s Transactional Finance and Real Estate Practice Group. All nine lawyers have significant affordable housing and tax credit experience and recently worked together as the D.C.-based Tax Credit Advice Team at global law firm Bryan Cave.

Jerry Breed, Bill Driggers, Donna Rodney, and John Dalton have joined Miles & Stockbridge as principals; Corenia Burlingame, Dawna Steelman, Megan Palmer and Robert Coberly as counsel; and Jordana Hausman as an associate. Two paralegals and two legal assistants have joined the firm as well.

The lawyers counsel real estate developers, investors, syndicators, and lenders across all phases of transactions involving low-income housing tax credits (LIHTCs), historic rehabilitation tax credits, New Markets Tax Credits, and renewable energy tax credits. They will work closely with Miles & Stockbridge’s Affordable Housing and Community Development Practice Group.

Broderick Becomes CEO of Gilbane Development

Edward Broderick has been promoted to CEO of Gilbane Development Co., the real estate development, financing, and ownership arm of Gilbane, Inc. He previously served as COO and succeeds Robert Gilbane, who will remain as chairman.

Broderick will be responsible for the development and execution of the firm’s strategic plan as well as for the management of all aspects of the company and its activities, including new development opportunities, acquisitions, financings, and project leadership. He will serve on the company’s board of directors and its investment committee.

During his 35-year career, Broderick has successfully progressed through leadership roles at Gilbane, starting as a management trainee with Gilbane Building Co. before joining Gilbane Development in 1989. He has had many accomplishments, including structuring transactions in both public and private sectors, growing the company’s multifamily and mixed-use portfolio, and helping the national firm’s geographic expansion.

Gilbane Development’s projects incorporate every aspect of real estate, including market-rate apartments, affordable housing, residential communities, mixed-used developments, health-care facilities, and manufacturing facilities.

Integrity Housing Welcomes VP of Development

Ruby Dhillon has been named vice president of development at Integrity Housing, where she will evaluate new development opportunities, source new deals, and assist with the financing side of closings.

Dhillon earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Southern California and a law degree from American College of Law. Prior to joining Integrity, she served as the vice president of Southwest development at Newport Partners, an entity focused on constructing LIHTC properties throughout the Southwest. She has also served as the vice president of originations at Alliant Capital, an equity firm, and the rental programs administrator for the Arizona Department of Housing.

Founded in 1993, Integrity Housing creates and sustains affordable communities for low-income seniors and families. Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., the firm has developed, owned, and operated thousands of affordable multifamily housing units throughout the United States. The organization specializes in deal sourcing and structuring, asset acquisition and management, financial analysis, investor and lender relations, governmental relations, project design, construction management, property operations, and resident services.

Eden Housing Names CFO

Tatiana Blank has been named CFO at Eden Housing. She has been part of the nonprofit organization’s senior management team since 2016, serving as vice president of portfolio finance and asset management.

Blank is a certified public accountant and, before joining Eden, was the vice president of corporate finance at ROEM Development Corp., a real estate developer and general contractor. Previously, she also worked as a tax and audit manager at Novogradac & Co., a public accounting firm specializing in tax credit-financed affordable housing projects.

As CFO, Blank will oversee Eden’s total assets of more than $1.5 billion with combined annual operating revenue of more than $86 million. Headquartered in Hayward, Calif., Eden has 140 projects under management and several new developments in the pipeline.

The Laramar Group Announces SVP of Operations

Jeanne Schwab has become senior vice president of operations at The Laramar Group, a national real estate investment and property management corporation.

She will join Stacy Valentine, who recently assumed the senior vice president of operations role overseeing all national urban marketing platform efforts at the company.

Schwab previously led the growth and development of Laramar as a vice president of operations, Western U.S., from 2010 to 2014, where she successfully managed more than 20,000 units in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, and Nevada. She returns to Laramar after holding positions at Forum Real Estate, The Irvine Group, and, most recently, Cortland Partners.

As senior vice president of operations, Schwab will assume responsibility for directing all of Laramar’s fee management, affordable, new development, and joint-venture platforms, as well as all national marketing efforts for the platforms.

Founded in 1989, Laramar is a vertically integrated national real estate investment and property management corporation with a multibillion-dollar portfolio.

Housing Visions Adds to Team

Shanelle McPherson has been named director of property management at Housing Visions.

She joins the Syracuse, N.Y.–based nonprofit from Norstar Property Management. In her new role, McPherson will work to strategize short‐range and long‐range organizational goals; oversee and direct property management activities related to the organization’s diverse residential and commercial portfolio; and ensure the overall successful operations of properties.

McPherson has over 17 years of experience in the property management industry.
