NeighborWorks America announced today that Chuck Wehrwein will serve as acting president and CEO, following the resignation of Eileen Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald  joined NeighborWorks in 2005 as COO and became CEO on June 1, 2011. Prior to that, she served at the Fannie Mae Foundation, McAuley Institute, AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust, and U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Wehrwein has been COO of the organization since May 2012. In that role, he has overseen the organization’s field operations, national initiatives, and applied research, training, organizational assessment, and information management.

Prior to joining NeighborWorks America, he served as president of the Housing Partnership Exchange at the Housing Partnership Network.

No additional details were provided about the leadership change.
