The Kansas Housing Resources Corp. has awarded critical financing to support 13 affordable housing developments across the state.
The awards—totaling $10.03 million in federal tax low-income housing credits (LIHTCs), $8.8 million in state tax credits, and $5.83 million in Department of Housing and Urban Development resources—will construct 383 new homes and rehabilitate 166 existing homes for Kansas seniors and families.
The awarded developments are part of the fourth round of 9% LIHTC, federal HOME, and National Housing Trust Fund proposals to receive state affordable housing tax credits through the Kansas Affordable Housing Tax Credit Act. These state credits are awarded as an equal match to the federal tax credit allocation.
As detailed in the 2026 qualified allocation plan, Kansas Housing is prioritizing developments that expand housing opportunities in rural areas, provide homes for special-needs populations, and address a documented housing shortage. Four of the awards contribute to increasing the housing stock in rural communities, while one award is partnering with supportive services to create inclusive, safe, and affordable homes for individuals with special needs.
