Twenty-two state housing finance agencies were recognized for program excellence by the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) this month.

Awards were presented in seven categories: communications, homeownership, legislative advocacy, management innovation, rental housing, special-needs housing, and special achievement.

NCSHA Annual Awards for Program Excellence winners were selected from 147 entries.

Three agencies were recognized for their work in rental housing:

  • Encouraging New Production
    North Dakota Housing Finance Agency: North Dakota Housing Incentive Fund
  • Multifamily Management
    Michigan State Housing Development Authority: Automated Audit Process
  • Preservation & Rehabilitation
    Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA): Maximizing Rural Housing Resources in Virginia

Three agencies were recognized for their work in special-needs housing:

  • Special-Needs Housing: Combating Homelessness
    VHDA: South Hampton Roads Regional Supportive Studio
    Apartment (SSA) Partnership
  • Special-Needs Housing: Housing for Persons with Special Needs (two winners)
    Delaware State Housing Authority: State Rental Assistance Program
    Illinois Housing Development Authority: Home First Illinois

Two agencies were honored for special achievement:

  • Special Achievement(two winners)
    Kentucky Housing Corporation: KY Home Performance
    MassHousing: Hoarding Initiatives Task Force
