Seven organizations have received a combined $3.15 million in grants from Housing New Mexico’s Housing Innovation Program.
Created in 2023, the program seeks to address housing needs not being served through existing Housing New Mexico programs and provide an opportunity for eligible applicants to fund community-tailored housing solutions.
“Our Housing Innovation Program allows us to support projects with flexible funding from the New Mexico Housing Trust Fund,” said Housing New Mexico executive director and CEO Isidoro Hernandez. “Whether it’s working toward homelessness prevention, home preservation, or homeownership, this program results in life-changing experiences for New Mexicans, and we thank our partners for the work they do to implement these programs.”
The organizations receiving grants so far this year are:
- City of Las Cruces received a $500,000 grant for the rehabilitation of the Mesilla Valley Community of Hope day shelter in Las Cruces;
- Crosstown for Living Peace Women’s Re-Entry House received a $500,000 grant to build transitional housing for formerly incarcerated women in Doña Ana County;
- DreamTree Project received a $500,000 grant for the rehabilitation of a congregate shelter facility in Taos;
- Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity received a $500,000 grant for its Critical Systems Replacement Program for Seniors;
- Heading Home received a $301,975 grant for the rehabilitation of the Albuquerque Opportunity Center, an emergency shelter serving unhoused individuals;
- HopeWorks received a $500,000 grant for renovations to its day shelter in Albuquerque; and
- Rebuilding Together Sandoval County received a $350,000 grant for its Critical Home Repair Program and its Disability Modification Program.
