CAHEC added 59 developments to its low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) syndication portfolio in 2024.

This growth represents 2,896 affordable housing units, providing homes for an estimated 7,620 residents across six states, announced the firm in April.

Twenty developments serve families, and 39 serve seniors.

“We’re committed to delivering impactful programs that support our stakeholders, strengthen our financial foundation, and ensure long-term sustainability,” said CAHEC president and CEO Dana Boole. “While we continually seek improvement, our growth, service, and commitment to innovation remain the driving forces behind our success.”

In other 2024 highlights:

  • CAHEC and the CAHEC Foundation invested $438,875 to provide residents with educational and wellness opportunities, including funding for 102,000 meals for families and 250 summer camp scholarships for low-income youth;
  • CAHEC New Markets was awarded $50 million in New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) allocations under the 2023 allocation round. The NMTC allocation will finance high-impact community facilities throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, creating new jobs and improving access to education, health care, and essential goods and services in high distress, low-income communities; and
  • More than 515 attendees from 29 states joined CAHEC in Raleigh at its annual partners conference.

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Columbia, South Carolina, the LIHTC syndicator and community investment organization has contributed to the development and preservation of 884 properties across 13 states, creating more than 42,000 affordable homes.
