Developed by San Diego–based Affirmed Housing, the 65-unit Bella Vita features 58 one-bedroom and seven two-bedroom units for seniors earning between 30% and 60% of the area median income.

“Bella Vita is designed to promote the health and well-being of its residents and the surrounding community,” said James Silverwood, president of Affirmed Housing. “Bella Vita provides residents with approximately 15,150 square feet of commons areas, including a community room, community gardens, an outdoor lounge, a theater area, a park area, and approximately 5,590 square feet of private open space.”

Solari Enterprises manages the development, and EngAge provides on-site services for the residents.

The $24.9 million development was financed with low-income housing tax credit equity from Raymond James Tax Credit Funds, a permanent loan from California Community Reinvestment Corp., and a land grant, loan, and grant from the city of Carson. U.S. Bank was the construction lender.

Additional design and development partners include Withee Malcolm Architects, HA Builder Group, Nexus for Affordable Housing, Fuscoe Engineering, and IVY Landscape Architects.
