A 120-unit community is bringing mixed-income housing opportunities to Athens, Georgia.

Columbia Residential announced that leasing has begun at The View at NoDA, a joint-venture project with the Athens Housing Authority and Jonathan Rose Cos.

“We're excited to introduce The View at NoDA to the Athens community,” said Carmen Chubb, president of Atlanta-based Columbia Residential. “Our vision was to create a living experience that seamlessly blends luxury, convenience, and security in one of Athens’ most vibrant neighborhoods.”

The View at NoDA is the first phase of the North Downtown Athens Redevelopment, formerly the Bethel Midtown Village and College & Hoyt senior community.

Funding for the $49.8 million development includes $22.1 million in low-income housing tax credit equity from U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance; an $11.3 million loan from KeyBank; $4 million in HOME funds from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs; $9.2 million from Athens-Clarke County; $1.5 million from the Athens Housing Authority; $600,000 from the Athens Downtown Development Authority; and a $1 million developer contribution.

In addition, the Athens-Clarke County government and the residents supported the redevelopment with the approval of a special purpose local option sales tax, which provided $39 million to purchase the property and support the infrastructure for the redevelopment.
