Dominium has acquired 12 mixed-income and affordable housing developments in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston metro areas.
The sale from Bonner Carrington, a Texas-based multifamily developer, aligns with both companies’ strategic objectives. The acquisition serves to enhance Dominium’s real estate offerings in Texas and overall while contributing to Bonner Carrington’s long-term growth through new developments planned in the state, according to the firms.
Details of the sale were not released, officials said it involved multiple deals with a variety of funding partners.
“By partnering with Dominium for this transition, our lasting commitment to providing a positive influence within our communities grows even stronger,” said Stuart Shaw, CEO and founder of Bonner Carrington. “We look forward to continuing our successful collaboration with Dominium and celebrating this new chapter together.”
“Dominium has had a long-standing relationship with, and great admiration for, Bonner Carrington,” added Mark Moorhouse, managing partner and executive vice president of development at Dominium. “This deal represents a win for both organizations, for the residents living in these properties, and for the communities where these properties are located.”
Dominium, which owns and operates more than 50 properties and 9,000 apartment homes in Texas, also plans to continue developing more housing to help address the shortage of affordable housing throughout the state. The company’s Texas pipeline includes several planned new-construction developments throughout the state over the course of the next three years.
Bonner Carrington will continue developing, building, and managing mixed-income communities for Texas residents. In 2025, the company will open seven new properties, including its active lease-up at The Kelsey at Scofield Farms in North Austin and Cypress Creek at Stoney Ridge in Del Valle, as well as others in the Temple and Dallas regions.
The 12 properties included in the sale operate under two of Bonner Carrington’s mixed-income brands, Mariposa Apartment Homes for active adults and Cypress Creek Apartment Homes for general living. The properties are:
