Avesta Housing has opened a 61-unit affordable housing community for older adults in Westbrook, Maine.

Seavey Crossing offers one-bedroom apartment homes, ranging from approximately 550 to 650 square feet and designed to support independence, accessibility, and healthy aging. The community offers maintenance-free living, utilities included in rent, and convenient access to shopping, dining, healthcare providers, and other essential services.

"I'm proud that Avesta is intentionally developing housing for persons who are in the prime of their lives, and who want to find a stable, affordable, and accessible home that will allow them to age in place in a community with their neighbors. Seavey Crossing is now open to meet that need," said Jennifer Hawkins, president and CEO of Avesta Housing. “Westbrook is an outstanding community, and I’m grateful to the city’s leadership and all the incredible partners who have been instrumental in bringing Seavey Crossing to life.”

Officials recently gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“We're thrilled to celebrate the opening of Seavey Crossing in Westbrook,” said mayor David Morse. “The city will continue to work with partners like Avesta to bring much-needed affordable housing to Mainers. Avesta has delivered over 230 housing units in Westbrook alone.”

The $23.5 million development was supported by Genesis Community Loan Fund, MaineHousing, CREA, and KeyBank.

Construction of Seavey Crossing was led by Hebert Construction.

Avesta Housing, headquartered in Portland, Maine, is the largest affordable housing developer and owner in Northern New England, with over 3,000 affordable homes across Maine and New Hampshire.
