Seniors in Mason City, Iowa, have a new affordable housing option with the completion of a 48-unit community.
Developed by Anchor Housing Development, Legacy Manor of Mason City II is a three-story building comprised of two-bedroom apartment homes with approximately 800 square feet of space for residents 55 years and older.
The latest phase is part of a coordinated campus located directly next to Legacy Manor of Mason City Phase I, which was built in 2013.
WNC, a national investor in real estate and community development initiatives, provided $5.9 million in low-income housing tax credit equity to fund the development, located approximately 120 miles north of Des Moines.
“Legacy Manor is an upscale senior housing community with numerous amenities and scenic views for residents and their visitors to enjoy,” said Michael Gaber, WNC executive vice president and COO. “The community provides seniors with a safe and quality home that is within their means. We couldn’t be happier to help deliver these homes to local residents in need.”
The development features on-site management, a clubhouse, a fitness center, a business center, a picnic area, gazebo, a community garden, a beauty salon, a library, and walking trails. The apartments include an electric range and other kitchen appliances, a washer and a dryer, central air conditioning, and a ceiling fan.
