The Grant at Woodlawn Park is a 33-unit mixed-income rental community and the second new construction phase of nonprofit Preservation of Affordable Housing's Woodlawn Park redevelopment in Chicago.
With the help of a Department of Housing and Urban Development Choice Neighborhoods Initiative implementation grant, POAH is revitalizing the former 504-unit, Sec. 8–assisted Grove Parc Plaza complex and its surrounding neighborhood. The city of Chicago serves as POAH's partner for the Choice Neighborhoods program.
The Grant at Woodlawn Park will be certified under the LEED for Homes program. It features a super-insulated slab, walls, and roof as well as an airtight building envelope. Each building has a solar thermal array that is designed to generate 50 percent of the domestic hot water.
