MassHousing Awards Grant to Sober Housing Project

MassHousing has approved $150,000 in funding to help create 11 units of affordable housing for women in recovery and their children in New Bedford, Mass.

The grant comes from the Center for Community Recovery Innovations (CCRI), a nonprofit subsidiary of MassHousing that creates and preserves affordable sober housing in the state. CCRI has awarded more than $4 million in grants for more than 1,000 units of substance-free housing in more than two dozen communities.

Ingraham Place is being developed by the Women’s Institute for Housing and Economic Development and will feature 11 new two- and three-bedroom apartments and on-site child care for approximately 40 women and children in the former city school. Other financing partners include the city of New Bedford, the state Department of Housing and Community Development, the Highpoint Treatment Center, and NorthStar Learning Centers.
