Previous Survey Results: 2009’s Best News Events

HousingFinance.com recently asked readers their opinions on the best news event for the affordable housing industry in 2009.

The top two responses—each with 29.4% of the votes—were the confirmation of HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan and the recruitment of the new HUD team and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act establishment of the Tax Credit Assistance Program and tax credit exchange. The industry consensus to lobby for set of legislative changes to boost the credit market garnered 23.5% of the votes, followed by additional ARRA funding for public housing, neighborhood stabilization, and the homeless (5.9%).
