A nifty new affordability index and more

Further regarding Monday's FY2007 budget proposal, the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) is not happy with the CDBG cuts. Nor with the rest of it.

Catching up on what happened while we were focused on the budget:

- The HOME program's monthly reports for January have been posted. Worth reading for folks dependent on HOME funding, especially given the note on this sub-page saying: "...In addition, [Participating Jurisdictions] can view activities that have been open (OP) for several years with little or no HOME funds drawn. These projects, if not progressing, should be canceled."

- From Matrix via the New York Observer: Brookings has designed a new "Affordability Index" that factors in tradeoffs between housing costs and transportation costs.

- The LA Homeless Services Authority is in a spot of trouble.

- There's a NLIHC Memo to Members, mostly budget and hurricane-recovery items

- And there's still no money to rebuild damaged public housing in Biloxi.

[MORE CATCHING UP:

- HUD OIG is posting records of its recent audits and investigations in a new "results" format that's easier to browse by topic.

- HUDCLIPS has reposted the form and instructions for the Executive Branch Personnel Public Financial Disclosure Report, Form SF-278. This would be one of the key forms to ask for if you ever want to look into a suspected conflict of interest.

- A new Status Report is up today for Colorado tax credits.]
