Wednesday housing and disaster mix

- Katrina beat: The Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund announced $90 million in hurricane relief grants today. It goes to educational institutions, state government relief efforts, and "a ministerial partnership with local and regional faith-based organizations"... Debate at a congressional hearing shifts from hurricane victims' complaints of racism to the debatable terms some used to describe it... Per newly released documents, officials knew the federal hurricane response was "broken."... and there'll be a House subcommittee hearing on the disaster housing response tomorrow. - The UCLA Anderson Forecast is bearish on the housing market. (Also here.)

- Kerfuffles in Buffalo over contracting at the local housing authority.

- Salt Lake City has reopened its Sec. 8 waiting list after two years.
