HUD mailing lists and more

HUD turns out to offer a surprising number of different "listserv" online mailing lists, many of them apparently open to any interested member of the public. Links to the signup forms are conveniently listed on the obscurely posted but extremely useful-looking HUD Mailing Lists page. Among the available topics: state-specific lists... the Office of Affordable Housing Programs newsletters (including "HOMEfires")... the new CPD homeless assistance list... Homeless Management Information Systems... The HUDUSER research and data service additionally has a publicly available portal that allows Web browsing of existing messages on its four topical ListServs: the American Housing Survey... the Regulatory Barriers Clearinghouse... HUDUSER News... and the 2001 Residential Finance Survey.

If you're nerd enough to be interested in these items, you may also want to download this directory of federal news pages and mailing lists prepared by a University of Cincinnati reference librarian.

Also on the wires today:

- OMB Watch is concerned that the various Hurricane Katrina contracts are not all posted online. Actually the "Hurricane Contracting Information Center" has posted some additions lately, but unless I'm misreading "Recent HUD Contract Awards" there's nothing Katrina-related yet.

- There's a final rule out today detailing HUD's willingness to insure five-year hybrid adjustable-rate mortgages.
