Summary: This bill would authorize appropriations for HUD’s rural housing and economic development program. It authorizes HUD Sec. to carry out programs through the Office of Rural Housing & Economic Development to assist Indian tribes, State housing finance agencies, State community or economic development agencies, local nonprofit organizations and community development corporations in rural areas to support innovative housing and economic development activities in rural areas. Authorizes $30 million in appropriations for FY 2008, and $40 million for FY 2009 through 2013.
